A remarkable group of women in Marrakech are redefining traditional gender roles and finding financial independence through their weaving. They transform the natural fibers of desert agave into beautiful silken thread using time-honored methods. The hand-spun thread is then masterfully woven on family looms and embroidered with traditional motifs. Each of these pillows represents days of work and generations of skill passed from mother to daughter.
